Expedition 352 (Izu Bonin Mariana Arc) cores received
On the 19th November 2014, the KCC received ca. 0.6 km of cores recovered from the Philippine Sea by the US drill ship JOIDES Resolution during the IODP Expedition 352 (Izu Bonin Mariana Arc). The cores were brought under refrigeration in a 40-feet container from the Supic Bay, the Philippines, where the ship offloaded the cores. The cores are temporarily stored for a few months on their pallets in the KCC reefer aisle, because racking of the previous expedition cores (Exp. 346, 349, 350, 351) is in progress in the new reefer. With this addition of the cores from the Philippine Sea, the KCC’s IODP core collection has grown to ca. 105.1 km.
