5,700m long core received from the IODP Expedition 323 ( Bering Sea)
The IODP Expedition 323 operated in the Bering Sea and a number of holes were drilled by the riserless drilling vessel JOIDES Resolution over a period of about 2 months. The total length of the cores from all the holes drilling during this expedition has been estimated to be 5,700m.
As per current oceanographic division of the world ocean for curation of the IODP cores in the 3 IODP core repositories in the world, these cores were delivered to the Kochi Core Cener on September 8th, 2009. After receiving the Bering Sea cores, the total amount of the DSDP, ODP and IODP cores being curated at the center has reached to the lenth of about 91km.
