There is a large sampling room located next to the reefers. Here curatorial staff or visiting researchers take samples from the core sections as per the sample request submitted by a researcher. The room is large enough to hold sampling parties, where a group of researchers can examine the core sections together and take samples from a commonly agreed upon section interval.
